Acupuncture

Acupuncture is likely the world's safest, most effective approach to accessing and amplifying your body's own ability to heal and balance itself.

The insertion of tiny, sterilized and disposable needles generates a distinct signal that your body uses to normalize functions, stop pain and improve mood.

Much research has been done on how it works. For instance, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain before and after acupuncture treatment for pain shows dramatic decreases in brain activity -- up to 70 percent. This decrease in activity is thought to be the reason why the acupuncture treatments diminish the pain.

In addition to reducing pain, acupuncture excels at increasing circulation. Good blood flow improves all of your the body's functions.  Blood carries everything we need to be well -- oxygen and nutrients. The better the blood flow, and the better the quality of blood, the better you feel!

Moxibustion

Moxibustion (Moxa) is a warming method to increase vigor overall, and eases aches, pains and soreness. It's like chicken soup times ten. Moxa is mugwort, a Chinese herb, also called Artemisia vulgaris. The moxa is lit, like a bit of incense, and used over acupuncture points and body areas to warm and heal.

Cupping

You may have seen olympic athletes with faded round circles on their backs. That's from cupping. Cupping is a suction method that releases muscles and thereby alleviates pain. Using a pneumatic pump, small glass or plastic cups are placed on the body and held in place with just enough suction to release muscular tension. In case you're wondering, the marks they leave are only cosmetic, and temporary. Results can be very fast with this method.
